Turning Sensual Massage Into a Profession

Massage is a great experience, its relaxing, healing, and can be a pleasure from your 'hair follicles to your toenails' if you let it. And in the last century its gone from being a sensual experience for the elite, to a wonderful (even if sometimes a bit clinical), opportunity to wind down for the average citizen and consumer. I am overjoyed at this, between sports massage, spa massages, thai massage, and other types of healing modalities, the world over, body healing has finally taken a front seat in the story of our lives.

However, the sensual side of massage, unless you're in a liberal country, city, or place, has gone underground. If its not sanctioned and regulated by government authorities, its considered extra-legal, hard to prosecute, but enforcers of the law are quite unsure about how to handle it. If you've watched TV then you know massage parlors and the like. They're portrayed as mills, places where money rules, seedy, shady, and dirty.

But a better picture that I'd like to draw about sensual massage, among other erotic arts is the show Firefly, a sci-fi show in the early 2000's that had a beautiful character on there named, Inara. She epitomized what sacred, erotic arts are about, serenity. Her furnishings were well-appointed and intended to soothe. Aggression was simply not tolerated and a state of grace was her very being. And for the record; cop, social worker, doctor, lawyer, tech support, etc. should all be cultivating grace (and the rate of heart disease is the biggest red herring there is that a state of grace is not practiced nearly enough, but I digress.)

There is the trafficking, the drugged – out side to the erotic profession, but I believe that side exists only because we as a human society - centuries in the making - refuse to see the benefit, the right, and the necessity of individuals catering to these practices. We can take the “special victims unit” out of the equation, but it relies on trust, understanding, and people knowing themselves. Needs must get met and rather than those needs getting taken from the souls who find themselves caught up; lets uplift those who strive to practice the sensual arts, because dare I say it, 'they soothe the savage beast within us all'. An un-placated animal will go on the war path and I believe that's what truly ails our human family.
